Girl getting dental checkupAt MySolutions Dental Clinic in Crows Nest, we are pleased to cover up to $1,052 over two calendar years for basic dental services under the CDBS. The cap amount is indexed annually on 1 January. The increase in cap amount only applies to a child or teen who received their first eligible service in that calendar year. The services we’ll cover include any of the following:

Please note: there are some restrictions for basic dental services. Before starting your service, you should check with your dentist if there are any items or time restrictions.

How to Prepare for Your Child’s Appointment

When you book an appointment, say you want to use the CDBS, and check how close you are to the balance cap limit. This will tell you what benefit amount you can get. If you’re not sure how much is left, you can either check your Medicare online account or call the Medicare program. Your dentist should also check your child’s available benefit amount at the appointment.

At the Appointment

During the appointment, ask what each service will cost and if CDBS will cover the services. You’ll get a consent form saying you agree to the services and what they cost. Check these, then sign if you agree.

Some dentists give you a bill to pay on the day of the service. You can then claim a benefit from us. You can often do this at the dentist straight after you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I claim?

You can claim up to $1,052 for each child over two consecutive calendar years for each eligible child.

When does the 2-year period start?

It starts at the beginning of the calendar year, in which your child becomes eligible and receives their first dental service.

Can the full amount be used in the first calendar year?

Yes, you can use the full amount up to $1,052 in the first calendar year, which will leave no funds for the second year. If you don’t use the full $1,052 in the first year, you can use it in the second year if your child is still eligible.

What happens if you don’t use the full amount within the two calendar years?

You will not be able to use the remaining funds. You’ll have to wait for a new two-year cover period to start. You also won’t be able to use any remaining funds once your child is no longer eligible.

What is not covered?

The services we won’t cover are all the following: orthodontic dental work, cosmetic dental work, or any dental services in a hospital.
