Dental implants are replacement teeth that sit alongside the other teeth in your mouth. Each one is topped off with a crown (or bridge, if there are a few teeth missing) that is made to blend in with the rest of your smile.

Unlike bridges or partial dentures, artificial tooth roots are independent of other teeth in your mouth, providing a more conservative solution for people with missing teeth.

The Treatment Process

Every candidate begins their treatment process with a consultation. Dr Chen will perform a thorough examination and take a 3D scan to assess their oral anatomy to make sure there is enough bone to support the artificial tooth root. If needed, a bone graft or sinus lift can be performed to add bone density in that space a few months before the implant is installed.

Most replacement tooth roots can be placed with local anaesthetic (numbing medication) but sedation is also available upon request. It is a relatively conservative procedure. The artificial tooth root then integrates with your mouth for 3-4 months to ensure proper support. After the integration process, we uncover the post and attach a porcelain crown that matches the teeth on either side.
